Sometimes finding the supports and services you are looking for can be challenging having someone else advocate with you can be very helpful. The following resources may be useful in current situations or to develop more advocacy skills that you can use in the future.

Self-advocacy group sponsored by the Arc Northern Chesapeake Region. The group meets the meets the first Monday of every month from 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM at Christ Our King Church in Bel Air.

“Partners for Success” Harford County

Partners for Success is a partnership between the Harford County School System and the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE). Partners for Success offers resources and assistance to help families advocate for their children as they access services.
Arc of MD "Partners in Policy Making"

Partners in Policymaking teaches leadership skills to parents of people with developmental disabilities who are interested in advocating for their family member and for other people; free to people who are accepted into the program.

The purpose of the Self Advocacy Network (SAN) is to increase self advocacy throughout the state. The project is funded by the MD Developmental Disabilities Council and The Arc of Frederick County.
Arc of MD "People on the Go"

People on the Go of Maryland, a statewide self advocacy group supported by The Arc of Maryland, is open to anyone with a developmental disability.
Arc of MD “Ask Me! Project”

Ask Me! is a Consumer Quality of Life Survey that asks people with disabilities about their satisfaction with their quality of life and with their DDA-funded services. People with disabilities are hired to conduct the interviews.
The Parents Place of Maryland:

The Parents' Place helps families in Maryland with children with disabilities obtain quality educational services for their children by providing advocacy, access to information, workshops and materials, including a quarterly newsletter.
The Riot!

The Riot!, a free online, self-advocacy newsletter for people with disabilities, is published quarterly and is a project of the Human Services Research Institute’s Self-Advocate Leadership Network.
Youthhood.org

Youthood.org is an interactive website for youth with disabilities and their families. It is designed to help people who are transitioning think about areas that are important to them now and in the future. Topic “Centers” include: high school, jobs, community, the hangout, government, health and the apartment.
